11 flippin’ good pancake recipes to make this weekend

By Melissa Scheepers, 18 August 2017

Start your weekend the right way: whip up a stack of warm, freshly flipped pancakes with slathers of your favourite fresh fixings.

Pancakes lend themselves to almost any flavour. Keep ‘em fresh with a slashing of whipped cream and strawberries, or go traditional with cinnamon sugar and a generous squeeze of lemon. Feeling a little more experimental? Go the zesty mile and whip up a tart and tangy syrup.

Are you a first time flipper? Don’t fret, you’ve got this. Follow this easy step by step guide on how to make a basic crêpe.

4 TIPS FOR PERFECT CRÊPES

  • Use a thick bottom pan so that the heat spreads evenly.
  • For ultra thin sheets make sure the batter is loose and liquid – this makes for easier flipping.
  • For the first pancake, be sure to over butter or oil (not deep fry) the pan. Be generous! The first pancake will be a bit buttery, but the rest will be perfect!
  • Don’t flip your pancake too early! To prevent tearing, only flip once the edges have turned brown.

FLIP IT, FLIP IT REAL GOOD.
