3 of our favourite classic cocktails

Three of our favourite drinks (the Manhattan, old-fashioned and rock shandy) have more than a few things in common – they’re classy, they’re delicious, and they’re all elevated by a few dashes of Angostura® Aromatic Bitters.

We love a well-made cocktail, in particular classic, not-too-sweet cocktails with a hint of bitterness that lingers on the tongue. We’re thinking of the Manhattan, old-fashioned, and a well-poured rock shandy. What do these drinks have in common? They’re all elevated by the addition of a few dashes of bitters – Angostura® Aromatic Bitters, to be precise.

Dirty Manhattan

You know the classic Manhattan – a classy concoction of whisky, sweet vermouth, bitters and a maraschino cherry. But do you know it’s subtler brother, the dirty Manhattan? Swap the sweet vermouth for dry and garnish with an olive or a lemon twist rather than the cherry and what do you get? Pure sophistication, that’s what.

The old-fashioned

Not enough is said or written about the old-fashioned. It’s delicious. It’s classy. It’s versatile in the sense that it can be enjoyed at the start of a proper night out or as a low-key nightcap. If you haven’t had one or made one before, you’re in for a treat.

The lazy rock shandy

We love the rock shandy as a great non-alcoholic option and because it comes together so quickly. We particularly like this lazy rock shandy, made in a jug for your whole party to enjoy, with some well-chosen snacks on the side.
