3 fast and easy ‘pantry-only’ pasta recipes

By TASTE, 14 April 2020

These three pasta recipes are not only ready in a flash, but they also call for ingredients you’ve likely got in your pantry already.

15-minute puttanesca penne

A quick reminder that your perennial, midweek pasta dish is made up entirely of pantry items and is finally getting the attention it deserves. If you don't have any anchovies, a dash of fish sauce will approximate the flavour.

Baked crunchy cheesy macaroni

A reminder that mac-and-cheese is the original pantry pasta! Make a traditional cheese sauce, or, if you're lucky enough to have some in the cupboard, a sachet of Woolies cheese sauce. The genius trick here? The topping made from breadcrumbs mixed with Woolies sundried tomato pasta sauce. (Any pesto would also work really well here.)

Spaghetti with basil pesto, olives and artichokes

Considering the trickiest part here is making sure you can get all the jars open, this pasta packs a lot of fresh, punchy flavours. If you didn't stockpile marinated artichokes (why ever not?!), sundried tomatoes or fresh mushrooms are another way to add flavour and bulk to this dish.
