5 great Woolies meals + the perfect sides to serve them with

By Hannah Lewry, 12 October 2015

When Hannah Lewry is expecting guests but she’s stuck for time, she turns to Woolies’ ready-made convenience meals and rustles up something from scratch to serve on the side while the meals are heating. Here are five of her favourites.

Woolworths fresh aubergine and tomato bake

When watermelon is in season it’s the perfect side to this vegetarian dish. But I do love the hazelnuts and slightly smoky flavor of the baby marrow ribbons in the baby marrow and mint salad. Make both and serve them at the same time if you have the energy or time!

Depending on how much time you have, roasted carrots and fennel are delicious with cottage pie. But I also adore the peas and beetroot for spring!

Woolworths macaroni cheese

I grew up eating tomato-and-onion salad alongside my granddad’s macaroni cheese, and it’s the only way I eat it. This is a slightly more elegant version and the Parma ham is a great addition.

Loaded poppadoms are my new favourite thing to eat with curries! I have to give Jamie Oliver’s new book Jamie’s Superfood credit for this idea, though. Microwave poppadoms until puffed up and crispy, then serve topped with yoghurt, shredded mint, chopped chilli, red onion and cherry tomatoes. It adds delicious adding crunch and freshness! They also look fantastic.

Woolworths CarbClever fresh Thai chicken

Cauliflower mash is the best side to make to bulk up this dish. A lot of my friends are Banting so this takes a lot of pressure off me to come up with low-carb, high-protein meals that everyone will love.
