6 of our fruitiest desserts to bake right now

By Melissa Scheepers, 31 August 2017

Add a little spring to your step with one of our favourite fruity bakes. If a jammy spin on the chocolate orange, a cute coconut-and-banana pie or a berry-filled cobbler tickles your fancy, these are the recipes for you.

It’s all about balance. If you feel that a decadent chocolate treat is a little too indulgent, we suggest you take the (mildly) virtuous route and feed your sweet tooth by turning this season’s brightest fruits into tasty fruity desserts.

THE SELF-SAUCING PUDDING

Are you a sucker for marmalade? Then this is the recipe for you. It’s a sticky, airy bake using your favourite marmalade, best served with grilled citrus fruit and a generous serving of bitter chocolate ice cream.

THE OPEN PIE

This coconut-and-banana pie is particularly easy to bake, taking only 35 minutes from start to finish. Top with an easy toffee sauce that pairs perfectly with the caramelised bananas. Serve with a few scoops of ice cream for good measure.

THE BREAD-AND-BUTTER PUDDING

It’s essentially a banoffee pie with a banana bread-and-butter twist. The salted caramel sauce is technically a cheat’s sauce – but your guests will never know the difference.

THE ALL-IN-ONE BAKE

An easy cake to throw together – all you need is a little patience for its 40 minutes backing time. If you love apple bakes with an extra nutty flavour, this is the recipe for you.

THE UPSIDE-DOWN CAKE

It’s a classic in the fruity dessert sphere, and will definitely turn your frown upside-down. Don’t be surprised if you get a little nostalgic kick, too!

THE COBBLER

Fancy a bowl of strawberry bliss that is comforting and summery at the same time? Bake this now.

Need a treat in 20 minutes or less? Whip up something fruity with just a touch of indulgence. Try roasting a few apples and serve with creamy vanilla ice cream or bake a banana with a dollop of Nutella and a block or two of white chocolate.
