Help! Too much salt or spice.

I added too much salt (or spice) to my dish. How do I save it?

To a very spicy dish you can add yoghurt or cream. I find that potatoes or gem squash can absorb the salt.

I have heard that adding a whole raw potato absorbs salt, then remove when done. If you are making a sauce, I would remove a third of the salty sauce, discard then add to the remainder some of the stated base(water, cream) and some thickener (egg yolk/ cornflour or flour) ingredients. Hope that helps.
