Creamed coconut block
A creamy white cube of pure coconut, a creamed coconut block is grated or cut into small pieces and added to Thai or Oriental dishes to thicken sauces, curries, soups and such like. It imparts an aromatic coconut flavour and silky richness to the texture of a dish and, by mixing small quantities with warm water, can also be used in the place of coconut milk. You’ll find it in most Asian supermarkets or specialised delis.
