Here’s how to make the ultimate ice-cream treats

Ice cream is undoubtedly one of the best things about summer. What unlocks childhood nostalgia better than a cone of your favourite soft serve? What gets the kids excited for school holiday adventures than a big scoop at their favourite theme park? We’re revisiting two ice cream desserts – ice cream bars and ice cream cake – that hark back to the good ol’ days by giving them a modern twist using Woolworths’ range of soft scoop and dairy ice cream flavours.

The weather is heating up and we’re stocking up on all our favourite Woolworths ice creams. What better way to cool down than with a chilled, creamy dessert flavoured with chocolate or peanut butter, or even candy-coated sweets? We love that Woolworths offers a range that suits all tastes. Whether you like your flavours clean and minimal (vanilla for the win, right?) or you believe there’s no such thing as too many toppings, Woolworths has you covered! However, this isn’t just a dessert for kids, ice cream is the summer dessert that will always win over any tough crowd.

1. FANTASTICAL™️ ice-cream bars

Brownies and ice cream? Sign us up! These brownie ice-cream sandwiches are super-easy to make and even easier to eat. They’re made using store-bought brownie mix and Woolies’ FANTASTICAL™ Soft Scoop berry-flavoured ice cream. This ice cream is a multi-coloured, fruity, berry-flavoured ice cream with milk chocolate pieces, with fruity-berry jelly sauce swirled through it and topped with multi-coloured candy sprinkles. It’s a kaleidoscope of bright, fun, colours that will instantly win over the little ones. Dip the bars in chocolate to take the decadence to greater heights and let the kids decorate them with their favourite sweets and sprinkles. If you’re looking for a fun activity in the kitchen with the kids, or a dessert with minimum effort that guarantees big flavours, this is the one to make this summer.

2. Ice-cream cake

If you stay clear from baking because all your recipes flop, this is the cake you can’t mess up. Layer softened ice cream on a base of crushed biscuits, leave to set in the fridge and decorate using melted chocolate and your favourite sweets and biscuits. For this ice-cream cake, we’ve gone for chocolate, caramel and cookies and cream, but you can play around with the flavours you love. Strawberries and cream with seasonal berries will also go down a treat. Have fun by mixing and matching your favourite Woolworths ice creams and toppings.
