No more sweets and chocolates in Woolies’ checkout queues

In keeping with its Good Food Journey, Woolworths has decided to remove all sweets and chocolates from its checkout queues

The Good Food Journey is a Woolworths’ initiative dedicated to offering South Africa food that is better for consumers, the environment and those who produce it.

The Good Food Journey has seen the removal of MSG and tartrazine and a reduction in salt and sugar from many of its products, and Woolies continues to make strides in terms of offering its customers better options. Sweets and chocolates will therefore be removed from checkout queues in an effort to offer children and parents better alternatives.

Spencer Sonn, member of the Foods Leadership Team at Woolworths, says: “I’m delighted that we are committing to removing sweets and chocolates from our checkout queues. Customers can trust that Woolworths has their best interests at heart and, as a father myself, I am very proud that we are leading the way on providing healthier kids’ options.”
