Party-starting platters

Creating the perfect party platter takes a little thought. Here are our suggestions to ease the festive season.

You can’t please everyone all the time, but you can come pretty close if you declare that the party’s at your place and that there’s going to be the snack platter to end all snack platters.

And, with a bit of planning, you won’t be overselling. All you need to do is consider the law of averages: someone will be on a diet; someone will be a fusspot; someone will have an incurable sweet tooth; and there’s bound to be a chilli lover.

The game plan? Cover your bases. Plate meaty favourites such as sticky chicken wings and cured meat like salami and prosciutto to keep those Banters functioning at optimal level; veg crudités and sensible dips like hummus for the conscientious.
For the spice fiends, be sure to include plenty samoosas, spring rolls and chilli bites with enough dipping sauces to go around. And for those with a sweet tooth, you can’t go wrong with a steady supply of mini cheesecakes and eclairs.

Oh, and don’t forget to stock up on delicious alcohol-free sips for the teetotallers – something interesting like pink tonic water. Now all that’s left to do is get the party started.

Need a hand? Stock up on the best ready-made party snacks at your nearest Woolies, pronto.
