  • 5 minutes, plus 2 hours’ marinating time
  • 30 minutes
  • Woolworths Bellevue Malbec 2016

Ingredients

  • For the marinade:
  • 2 T tomato paste
  • 4 T lemon juice
  • 3 T Worcester sauce
  • ½ cup Woolworths sparkling strong ginger beer
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 T Woolworths smoky BBQ grinder
  • ¼ t mustard powder
  • ½ t brown sugar
  • 2 T olive oil
  • For the chuck:
  • 700 g beef chuck steak
  • salted chips, for serving

Cooking Instructions

In a ceramic or glass bowl, mix the tomato paste, lemon juice, Worcester sauce, ginger beer, garlic, grinder spices, mustard, brown sugar and olive oil until well combined.

Add the meat to the marinade and massage until coated. Cover with clingwrap and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.

Place the meat on a preheated grid and braai over medium coals for 30 minutes or until cooked, turning every 10 minutes. Serve with salted chips.

Cook's note: Chuck steak needs a longer cooking time so that it doesn't become tough and chewy. Tenderise the meat with this easy marinade.
