When two classic South African favourites merge, it's bound to be magical. Make a thick spread with Woolworths original free-range beef biltong, peppadews and cream cheese and slather it in freshly braaied roosterkoeks. This braai season, don't overcomplicate your sides, just focus on flavour and ease. This roosterkoek can be sliced and shared, but it's so good, we suggest making individual portions so your guests don't have to battle for the last piece.

Ingredients

  • 500 g flour
  • 5 g yeast
  • 1 t sugar
  • ½ t salt
  • 1½ cups lukewarm water
  • 120 g Woolworths biltong powder
  • 250 g cream cheese
  • ½ cup Mild Whole PEPPADEW Piquanté Peppers, roughly chopped
  • 150 g Woolworths original free-range beef sliced biltong, roughly chopped

Cooking Instructions

1. Mix flour, yeast and sugar together and mix to combine. Add salt and pour in the water.

2. Mix until the dough comes together then tip out onto a floured surface. Knead for 10 minutes.

3. Place in a lightly oiled bowl and cover and leave to rise for an hour or until doubled in size.

4. Knock the dough back and sprinkle, over the biltong powder and knead into the dough. Divide into two portions, or make one large roosterkoek

5. Dust with flour and braai over low coals for 5 – 10 minutes or until cooked through.

6. Cut open while still hot and spread with the cream cheese, peppadews and biltong. Cut into slices and serve.
