The recipe suggests using brown sugar, this, coupled with the quantity meant that it was just too sweet to stomach. The flavour of brown sugar is quite rich and not a match for the meringue.

For anyone giving it a try, I would suggest using white sugar and half the amount. 
Furthermore, the pastry that this recipe produces is very thin (in case your preference might be otherwise).]]></description>
