Ingredients

  • 1 red onion
  • 500 g free-range beef mince
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • ½ cup flat-leaf parsley, chopped
  • 1 free-range egg
  • 1-2 T olive oil
  • 750 g Italian tomato sauce
  • 2 cups cooked polenta

Cooking Instructions

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Finely chop red onion and blanch in hot water for 5 minutes.

Drain, then place in a large bowl with free-range beef mince, crushed garlic, parsley, egg and seasoning to taste.

Combine with your fingertips and mould into bite-sized balls.

Pan-fry with 1- 2 T olive oil for about 5 minutes, before finishing off for 5 minutes in the oven.

Serve with hot home-made Italian tomato sauce, moist smooth polenta and fresh basil.

Cook's note: Woolworths sells a delicious tomato-and-herb pasta sauce as well as an organic Napoletana pasta sauce that work perfectly with this meal and are handy if you're in a hurry.
