- 2 pink lady apples, peeled and sliced
- 400 g strawberries, tops removed
- 200 g sugar
- 100 g butter
- 120 g flour
- 1 t ground cloves
- 1 t ground cinnamon
- 1 t baking powder
- 1/4 t salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 t vanilla paste
- 40 g desiccated coconut
- 100 g flaked almonds
- 3 T icing sugar, for dusting
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Place the sliced apple and strawberries into a baking dish and sprinkle with 3T sugar. Toss to combine.
Cube the butter and dot between the fruit.
Combine the flour, remaining sugar, cloves, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, milk, vanilla paste and desiccated coconut. Mix well.
Pour the batter over the strawberries and scatter with the flaked almonds.
Bake for 20 minutes or until the batter is golden. Dust with icing sugar before serving.
