Ingredients

Method
  • 2 pink lady apples, peeled and sliced
  • 400 g strawberries, tops removed
  • 200 g sugar
  • 100 g butter
  • 120 g flour
  • 1 t ground cloves
  • 1 t ground cinnamon
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 t vanilla paste
  • 40 g desiccated coconut
  • 100 g flaked almonds
  • 3 T icing sugar, for dusting

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

2. Place the sliced apple and strawberries into a baking dish and sprinkle with 3T sugar. Toss to combine.

3. Cube the butter and dot between the fruit.

4. Combine the flour, remaining sugar, cloves, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, milk, vanilla paste and desiccated coconut. Mix well.

5. Pour the batter over the strawberries and scatter with the flaked almonds.

5. Bake for 20 minutes or until the batter is golden. Dust with icing sugar before serving.

    I tried this recipe and used a berry duo of strawberries and blueberries. I used a scale to measure the ingredients as accurately as possible. I thought there was a bit too much butter and probably would have used 60g instead of 100g. It tasted amazing nonetheless and I’ll be making this dessert again.

    I made this recipe a few times this past winter and it was a hit every time! Not only is it super easy to make but I could successfully half the ingredients to make a smaller version when it was only a few people. Thank you for this deliciously divine desert recipe
