Toum is a Lebanese garlic sauce that you can use as you please, but Teddy Zaki, Great SA Bake-Off alumnus and owner of Just Teddy eatery in Joburg, recommends having it with shish tawook (marinated chicken kebabs).

Ingredients

  • 2 T water
  • 2–3 T Woolworths tahini
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed (optional)
  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice
  • sea salt, to taste
  • parsley large bunch, chopped

Cooking Instructions

Stir a little water into the tahini until soft and creamy. Add the garlic, lemon juice and salt. Check the seasoning, then add the parsley. Serve with shish tawook.
