Sponsored: master the freshly cut soup mixes this soup-er bowl season

By TASTE, 5 May 2017

Right on cue, the kitchen team at Woolies has been hard at work washing, peeling and chopping veg for the fresh cut soup mix you can’t live without – with a couple of new varieties thrown in

We get it: you want to feel like you’ve made a virtuous, warming soup from scratch, but you have zero inclination to peel and chop a mound of produce. That’s where Woolies’ freshly cut soup mixes come in. And what’s new? In addition to favourites like minestrone, butternut and split pea, Woolies has introduced three new soup mixes to fast track you to domestic goddess success.

There’s a green vegetable soup mix starring leeks, kale, broccoli and baby marrow; a sweet potato soup mix that also features diced kohlrabi; and a beetroot-and-pumpkin mix. There’s also a nifty “starter pack” to get you into the stock-making swing of things. Simply sauté, simmer, reduce and blend (if you like) and serve. Don’t you just love soup-er bowl season?

Take your soups to the next level with these four serving suggestions

Top the chunky vegetable soup mix with chopped celery leaves and chilli salt.

Serve the sweet potato soup mix with toasted chopped walnuts, smoked salt and a bay leaf.

Top the green vegetable soup mix with chopped parsley, salt pearls and pink peppercorns.

Drizzle the beetroot-and-pumpkin soup mix with extra virgin olive oil, add a dollop of crème fraîche and season with freshly ground black pepper.
