The TASTE team's top picks from the Jan/Feb magazine

It’s one thing eating the food that comes out of the TASTE kitchen, but how do the recipes hold up when we take them home to our kitchens? We asked the TASTE team (the writers, editors and designers) what recipes they’ve been cooking from the latest magazine. This is their feedback.

Heads up! The January / February issue of TASTE is on sale now, but we’ve received word that it’s nearly sold out. If you spot a copy in store, best you buy it, ASAP!

Puffy cheese toasties

“This was my go-to winner during the inevitable holiday sleepovers at casa Nicholson.”
– Liesl Nicholson, Group Managing Editor

Jalapeño atchar Malay chicken with tagliatelle

“The perfect dinner hack and a great way to spice up leftover roast chicken.”
– Alistair Fester, Art Director

Siba’s fishcakes

“Siba’s fishcakes – and they were a roaring success! Thanks to all the spices and smoky BBQ sauce, you’d never know it’s just canned tuna. And the addition of butternut instead of mashed potato is inspired.”
– Kath Jacobs, Associate Editor

Crunchy chicken tacos with blue cheese dressing

“Hannah’s story inspired me to make chicken tacos for a pot luck dinner. There were a few guests I didn’t know on the list but, dietary requirements or not, I thought ‘who can say no to a taco?’ Now I can see why Hannah says they’re one of her secret weapons. They were demolished in no time. A definite go-to for easy summer entertaining.”
– Michelle Coburn, Senior Content Editor

And the unanimous winner is: Pork and watermelon tacos

“It might just be the best thing I’ve ever cooked.”
– Jeanne Calitz, Commercial Projects Editor

“Hannah’s spicy pork tacos with watermelon scored massive brownie points with the “Outlaws”. The salsa verde bowled them over – and they’re not people who try new stuff!
– Liesl Nicholson, Group Managing Editor

“The addition of watermelon to the spicy pork is inspired. Don’t leave it out! This recipe will be repeated weekly until watermelon is no longer in season.”
– Amy Ebedes-Murray, Online Editor

      Hi Pier,
Unfortunately TASTE doesn’t have the recipes from the Woolworths Cafe – you’ll need to contact Woolies directly. Happy baking!
