Go retro

These devilled eggs might sound fiddly but as long as you’ve got one of the suggested fillings, you’ll be good to go. Chances are you’ve got some eggs sitting on the counter, so you can always have these hiding up your sleeve.

The cheesy option

Baked cheese will always be a great last-minute snack idea, and this ricotta recipe is so good your guests will think you had it planned all along. If you’re in a pinch, use feta or even Camembert instead. Serve with crackers or fresh bread.

The plan-ahead idea

If the idea of last-minute guests strikes fear into your heart, then a little forward planning might be your best friend here. A well-stocked pantry is a great way to make sure you’re never caught off-guard. Pop a few long-life dips and spreads into the cupboard, as well as a few crackers, breadsticks and olives and you’ll be ready for anything or anyone.

Woolies’ dips and antipasti are made using the best ingredients and are perfect for keeping in the pantry. Choose from white bean dip with ras el hanout, creamy bean, or harissa and olive antipasti and use them for dips, or dolloped onto fresh bread, puffed rice crackers or crisps.
