“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela’s statement has never been more true, but it’s hard to learn when you’ve walked kilometres barefoot just to get there. This Mandela Day, employees at Woolworths’ head office donated R67 or more towards a pair of new school shoes and socks as part of an initiative of the Woolworths Trust. The shoes were given to children at 11 under-resourced schools in rural areas, identified by the NECT. Take a look at what happened next. The smiles say it all.
