Woolworths’ new range of shortbread

By TASTE, 23 June 2015

Add flavour to tea time with Woolworths’ new additions to its shortbread biscuit range, which are made in one of Cape Town’s oldest bakeries, founded in 1976.

Woolworths' new range of shortbread biscuits come in different flavours – including chocolate, vanilla and coconut – and are made with free-range eggs and UTZ-Certified cocoa. And if you’re watching your sugar intake, there’s also a sugar-free shortbread to make sure you don’t miss out on the fun.

If you’re looking for new ideas with shortbread, here are some innovative ways to make it even better:

WHIP 4 T caster sugar with the juice of 1 lemon, 11⁄2 T sherry, 11⁄2 T brandy and 2 cups fresh cream until soft peaks form. Serve with Woolworths all-butter shortbread fingers for dipping.
ROAST 8 halved guavas with 100 g butter, 100 g brown sugar and the juice of 1 lemon in a hot oven until tender. Serve in the juices with whipped cream or yoghurt and topped with crushed shortbread.
CRUSH 200 g shortbread in a food processor, add enough melted butter to bind, then press into a baking tin and use to make a delicious cheesecake base.
