Basmasti Rice

Basmati is a long-grain aromatic rice that’s grown on the Indian subcontinent and is best served with curries, breyanis and pilaus.

This one is for the low-carb devotees. Make your own cauli-rice in a food processor or by chopping it finely – or buy the convenient ready-made version from Woolies. Delicious with curries, salads and stir-fries.

Black rice

Black rice is a wholegrain rice with a mild nutty flavour similar to brown rice. It’s popular in Thai and Indonesian cooking.
Try: Black rice with avocado and seared salmon.

Risotto (arborio) rice

Woolworths’ risotto or arborio rice is a shortgrain rice grown in Italy, which has a creamy chewy consistency ideal for use in risotto or rice pudding.

Carnaroli rice

Carnaroli rice is a medium grain rice which can be used as an alternative to pudding or risotto (arborio) rice.
