Sponsored: Haute Cabrière Chardonnay Pinot Noir the perfect spring blend

By TASTE, 2 September 2016

Discover an abundance of zesty fruit flavours, like white peach, litchi and red fruit – with a delectable full mouthfeel and balance with Haute Cabrière Chardonnay Pinot Noir.

It all happened quite accidentally 22-years-ago after the annual harvest at Franschhoek wine valley’s Haute Cabrière. Up until then, cellar master Achim von Arnim had been producing the now legendary Pierre Jourdan Cap Classique using Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.

However, 1994’s crop was very small, meaning the grapes ripened early and rapidly, making the alcohol levels unsuitable for MCC. Achim took a chance and bottled the still blend, which turned out to be a real game-changer in the wine industry.

As a recognized master in the art of blending it is only fitting that the Chardonnay is elegant, while the intense and rich Pinot Noir creates an unforgettable flavour. Combined in perfect proportions, they create an exciting, delightful taste experience.

Expect to find an abundance of zesty fruit – most notably white peach, litchi and red fruit – with a delectable full mouthfeel and balance. The 2016 vintage lives up to the celebrated blend’s reputation, offering the perfect balance between fruit and acidity, and a sophisticated complexity.
