On our radar: maple
Maple magic: just a drizzle of maple syrup can take a plain stack of pancakes or flapjacks to new heights – and you’ll be happy to know that it also pairs well with salty flavours.
When you think maple, your mouth goes mmmmm… right? Well, if doesn’t – then you’re probably doing it all wrong.
If you’ve always been under the impression that maple syrup is reserved for the sweet stuff, you’re about to learn something life-changing: it’s a perfect match with bacon. What’s more, it takes well to vegetables such as Brussels sprouts and can add an interesting twist to your bubbly, too. (Find out how in the November issue of TASTE).
And apart from regular maple syrup (R66.95 at selected Woolworths stores), maple also makes an appearance in these new products at Woolies: miso-and-maple flavoured full-fat cream cheese (R37.95 for 200 g), Brooklyn Brine sweet maple pickles (R79.95) and maple, vanilla and chocolate grind (R34.95).
