Choose sustainably sourced fish for your next fish braai

By TASTE, 26 October 2020

One of the great things about living in South Africa is our abundant seafood. And now you can enjoy shopping for seasonal, local whole fish at Woolworths.

ADVERTISING PROMOTION

This new initiative, in partnership with Abalobi Marketplace, brings sustainably sourced fresh fish to your table, while supporting the small-scale fishers who catch them. The catch is cleaned for your convenience and you can scan the QR code on the packaging to track the social and ecological story behind the fish on your plate. Current fish include Cape bream, silvers and a yellowtail side – just in time for your next fish braai!

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

Brush whole silvers with 1 T melted butter, 1 T olive oil and 1 T minced garlic. Cook at 180°C for 10–15 minutes and finish with lemon juice. To make a side of braised fennel and celery salad, braise 1 head chopped fennel in 2 T olive oil over a medium heat. Season and allow to cool. Serve with 1/2 bunch chopped celery, 5 g chopped parsley, 5 g chopped mint, and the fennel fronds. Toss with 1 T olive oil and 1 T red wine vinegar.
