For many, setting the table is a task that was set for them as children. As adults, we understand that table settings can make or break a dinner party or gathering. Whether you want to wow a few guests or take snapshots for the 'gram, Woolworths’ beautiful range of crockery, linen napkins and cutlery will have your table looking the part.
1. Start with placemats
Use a linen tablecloth if you're feeling fancy, but if you’re going for something a little more casual, keep the table unadorned and add linen napkins and rattan placemats. Make sure to arrange your placemats with enough space between them so your guests don’t elbow each other while eating.
For an Easter theme, wrap a folded linen napkin around Woolworths Easter eggs and secure them with string to create bunny ears. It’s a great way to stick to the theme without it being too in your face.
2. Pick your plates
Place your plates in the centre of the placemats. If you’re serving any sides, place a small, shallow bowl on top of the larger plate. When it comes to the colour scheme, make sure you go for complementary colours. We’ve gone for Woolworths' dune bowls in earthy tones.
3. Don’t forget cutlery
Your menu will dictate which cutlery you use. If you’ve got steak on the menu, be sure to include steak knives on your table. Add serving spoons and tongs for dishing up.
4. Go for greens
You can go the traditional route with a vase of flowers, but consider using green plants instead. Arrange eucalyptus stems in shallow bowls and add a few Easter eggs to really set the scene. This will give the feeling of dining outdoors if you’re inside.
5. Plan your menu
Now that the table has been set, what to serve? If you’re still unsure of your menu, here are a few recipes to get you started:
