Looking to fill your wine rack with some new varietals? Good news: Woolworths has recently launched 40 new wines including the new easy-drinking Ovation range starring the likes of Pinotage, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc
Woolies recently bagged a whopping 70 awards for its wines, so there is sure to be a wine from the new range to tickle your fancy. There are over 40 new wines on the shelves, made in collaboration with some of the country’s top winemakers including Spier, Diemersfontein, Villiera and Paul Cluver.
In addition to the new Ovation range, which includes a Pinotage (R69.95), Merlot (R69.95) and Sauvignon Blanc (R59.95), Woolworths has a new craft wine selection, a fine-wine range and a few newcomers to its imported wines. The craft wines comprise eight locally produced wines, including an old-vine Chenin called Casting for Chris & Becoming Paul (R149.95), and the Third Round Red Blend (R199.95), both made by Walser Wine Projects. The fine wines – priced between R200 and R500 a bottle – comprise 15 wines from various South African wineries. In this selection you’ll find anything from a Groot Constantia Chardonnay (R199.95) to a Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage (R499.95). The Marks & Spencer range includes gems such as the Château Gillet Bordeaux (R129.95) and a white Burgundy (R129.95).
