How to make a very festive cheese plate
Here’s a great way to use those cookie cutters rattling around in your kitchen drawers.
A wedge of Brie and a wheel of Camembert on a wooden board is fine and all, but if you really want to impress the Joneses, you should step it up with some clever hacks and a crafty cheat or two. Those cookie cutters rattling around in your kitchen drawer? Put them to good use by cutting out shapes from your favourite cheeses (we’re really into stars at the moment, can you tell?) and drizzle with some edible gold paint made using edible gold shimmer mixed with lemon juice.
Your fave white rock cheese with cranberries? Drizzling it with sticky mandarin syrup takes it up a notch. Add to that a couple of readymade stand-bys, like Camembert en croute – popped into the oven at 200°C for 15 to 20 minutes, or until oozily perfect and glistening with orange, cardamom and ginger drizzle. Then light some sparklers to set the festive scene. Cheese dreams are made of these, are we right?
