TV and radio presenter Anele Mdoda will be hosting another Woolies’ cook-off – and this time it is all about comforting winter meals! She will be joined by popular foodies, including TASTETube hosts Mogau Seshoene, a.k.a. The Lazy Makoti, and Keletso Motau. The foodies will compete in a friendly cooking face-off. Catch it on 17 July 2021 on Mzansi Magic and 19 July 2021 on DStv’s HONEY channel.

Are you looking for some food inspiration for winter? Then you need to watch the Woolies Winter Cook-off! This once-off cooking special will show you how easy it is to create delicious winter dishes that the whole family will enjoy.

Hosted by TV and radio presenter Anele Mdoda, the cook-off will see two teams of popular foodies compete to create the best, most delectable winter meals with the help of Woolies. The thrilling cook-off is split into three rounds, with the teams going toe-to-toe to prepare the best dish. At the end, host and judge Anele will rate each dish and select the winning team.

The Teams

Best-selling author, chef and TASTE food contributor Mogau Seshoene, a.k.a The Lazy Makoti, has been enlisted to lead one team. She is joined by popular actress and OPW host, Kayise Ngqula. Food stylist and TASTEtube host Keletso Motau is the other expert team leader, and is joined by YouTuber and founder of Aneno Beauty, Mpoomy Ledwaba.

The team leaders are tasked with showing viewers how easy it is to create easy and delicious winter dishes. “The best thing about winter is definitely the food,” says The Lazy Makoti. “Think warm curries, decadent sticky puddings, hearty soups and delicious stews. Everything is indulgent and comforting. People can expect lots of delicious food, plus quick and easy tips on how to elevate your winter menu and take it from simple to unforgettable. This will be the best winter yet.”

Food stylist Keletso Motau says there are many nifty ways to use products that have been pre-pared, and make them your own, “I will be showing you how to take some iconic Woolies products and turn them into great meals for every occasion.” With a star-studded, food-loving cast, this cooking special aims to elevate winter, with the conversation, laughter and community at the heart of it.

How to watch

The special will be airing on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161)  on 17 July 2021 at 6pm. It will also air on Honey (DStv channel 173), DStv's pioneering Pan-African lifestyle channel on 19 July 2021 at 8 pm.
