By TASTE, 15 January 2023

You don’t have to limit your salads to bowls. Make a filling meal by adding them to bagels, toasted ciabatta or flatbreads.

Nothing beats a well-constructed sandwich. Sure, spreading some nut butter on toast can hit the spot, but when you’re ravenous, you need something satisfying that will keep you full for longer. Enter, salad sandwiches – the latest sandwich trend we’re obsessed with.

Asian-style salmon bagels

Give your regular cream cheese-and-salmon bagel a break. Basil pesto, Asian slaw and smoked trout are what you need to make this sarmie. But feel free to mix and match your favourite flavours (lemongrass chicken anyone?).

Greek salad pizza

While it’s a classic, Greek salad tends to be overlooked. Give it a makeover with this lunchtime "pizza". Toasted wraps are used instead of pizza bases and hummus is substituted for tomato sauce.

Green summer crunch and chicken toasts

Love Caesar salad? This is the sandwich for you. Toasted, crunchy ciabatta is topped with spicy chicken mini fillets and Woolworths’ green summer crunch salad. A bite of this is simply heavenly.
