The TASTE team recently visited a sweet potato farm in Malmesbury, north of Cape Town, and learnt all about the different varieties grown for Woolworths. They thrive in the sandy soil and warmer months and are harvested just before the winter rains to ensure they're beautifully cured and at their best for making comfort food during the winter months.
While we were there, Woolworths let us in on a little secret: they're harvesting a new sweet potato – and you’ve never tasted one quite as sweet as this before.
