It’s finally the festive season, time to gather with loved ones, enjoy good food, and take a moment to relax. Nespresso’s Magic in the Making collection is inspired by these moments that make the festive season in Africa unique. Capturing the warmth, joy and creativity of the season, Nespresso has collaborated with Kenyan designer Thandiwe Muriu to visually bring this spirit to life with packaging adorned in vibrant designs inspired by the African coffee flower.
This year, the collection features three distinct flavours: double espresso, cinnamon and candied tamarind, and sweet almond and hibiscus. Each capsule is designed to make everyday coffee feel a little more special, whether it’s a quick pick-me-up or part of a summer dessert.

Double espresso
This full-bodied espresso is made using African Arabica beans from Rwanda, Kenya and the DRC. Bright, fruity notes are balanced by subtle caramel undertones, creating a coffee that’s both bold and approachable.
Cinnamon and candied tamarind
This capsule offers warm, spiced flavour with a hint of sweetness, which adds a playful twist to your coffee routine. It works beautifully in iced drinks or as a base for home-made ice cream.
Sweet almond and hibiscus
This coffee is delicate, nutty and slightly sweet. The flavour brings subtle floral notes to your cup, which pair well with fruity desserts like this trifle:

Contributor Clem Pedro shares three simple ways to make Nespresso coffee a little more playful this summer. Each hack is easy to do at home, and also looks impressive on your brunch or dessert table.
Coffee-infused icing
Mixing a shot of Nespresso into icing sugar gives baked goods a subtle coffee kick and a glossy finish. Drizzle this glaze over home-made or store-bought cakes, cookies or brownies to instantly elevate them. Simply whisk together one shot of Nespresso Double Espresso from the Festive Collection with 500 g sifted icing sugar until runny, then pour it over 12 Woolworths cronuts for an easy, impressive finish.

Whipped coconut cream coffee
Use one 400 ml can of coconut cream chilled overnight (and placed in the freezer for 30 minutes before serving), whip it until fluffy, brew one cup of Nespresso cinnamon and candied tamarind espresso, then top with the cream and a dusting of cinnamon and orange zest for the ultimate brunch sip.

Coffee ice cubes
For a little visual flair, freeze brewed coffee in mini bundt tins to create pretty ice shapes that melt beautifully into drinks without diluting them. To make them, brew 2 Nespresso Sweet Almond and Hibiscus capsules, mix with two cups of hot water, pour into mini bundt moulds and freeze overnight. To serve, add to glasses with Woolies full-cream salted caramel, vanilla or toffee milkshakes for a rich, chilled treat.
