The Nederburg TASTE Table: what you missed

TASTE readers gathered at Fermier restaurant in Pretoria for a fabulous day of tasting wines, making delicious food and enjoying a feast to remember

The theme for the day was farm to fork and, with its sustainability focus, Fermier provided the perfect setting for the event.

Throughout the morning, readers circulated through the three different stations: flavoured-bread making with Shaun Pugin (Artisan Breads); boerewors-making with Caroline McCann (Braeside Butchery) and finally, home-made ricotta-making with Abigail Donnelly (Woolworths TASTE Magazine).

Between each station, readers were treated to wine tastings led by Nederburg’s assistant white winemaker, Chandré Petersen. The wines tasted were The Anchorman wooded Chenin Blanc 2015, The Beautiful Lady Gewürztraminer 2016 and The Motorcycle Marvel Rhȏne-style blend 2014. These wines form part of the gourmet Heritage Heroes collection.

Finally, the day finished with a showstopping lunch from Chef Adriaan and his team at Fermier, each course paired with wines from the award-winning Nederburg’s Heritage Heroes collection, including The Brew Master Bordeaux-style blend 2013 and The Young Airhawk wooded Sauvignon Blanc 2016..

Nederburg has been selected as ‘Winery of the Year’ in the 2017 edition of Platter’s By Diners Club South African Wine Guide, with four of its wines across the multi-tiered range earning five-star ratings. Purchase Nederburg wines here.
