2-ingredient Lahmajeen




File this as: the perfect meal for Iftar. Zaynab Paruk shares her clever recipe for easy Lahmajeen (or Arab-style meat on bread) using Woolies Halaal dhania lamb burgers. Add a zingy little salad and you’re good to go in under 30 minutes.

- 4 Woolworths Halaal dhania lamb burgers
- 4 Woolworths large pitas
- olive oil, for frying
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 t sumac
- 1 T mint
- 1 t parsley
- 1 t olive oil
- salt, to taste For the dressing:
- 1 T Woolworths tahini
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 4 – 5 T red chilli paste or harissa paste
- ¼ t honey
- salt, to taste
Method
Ingredients
1. Slice open the pita breads and spread half a patty on one half of each pita and press into the bread. Fry in olive oil until crispy and the meat is cooked.
2. Make a salad with the remaining ingredients. To make the dressing, whisk the tahini and lemon juice until creamy, the add the chilli or harissa paste and salt.
3. To serve spoon the salad onto the cooked patties and pitas and drizzle over the dressing.
