Easy drop doughnuts




Zaynab Paruk’s drop doughnuts are delicious and wonderfully easy to make. Add a drizzle of chocolate sauce and fresh strawberries for the perfect post-Iftar sweet treat to enjoy during Ramadan.
Ingredients

- 1 free-range egg
- 50 g sugar
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 t vanilla
- 1 T ghee or melted butter
- ¼ cup milk
- 120 g flour
- 1 ½ cup baking powder
- vegetable oil, for deep-frying For the chocolate sauce:
- 200 g Woolworths 27 % cocoa milk chocolate drops
- ¼ cup milk For serving:
- 60 g Woolworths cinnamon sugar
- strawberries or raspberries, for serving
Method
Ingredients
1 Whisk together the wet ingredients, then add the dry ingredients and incorporate to make a smooth batter.
2 Heat the oil in a saucepan. Using your fingertips or a spoon, drop spoonfuls of dough into the oil and fry until golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper. Toss in the cinnamon sugar while still warm.
3 To make the chocolate sauce, heat the milk, then pour over the chocolate drops. Stir until melted and smooth. Serve the doughnuts with the sauce and berries.
