Ingredients

Method
  • 4 apples, cored (unpeeled)
  • 1 t ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 t ground cardamom
  • 1/2 t ground cloves
  • 1/2 t ground nutmeg
  • 2 T butter, melted
  • 60 g flaked almonds
  • honey, for drizzling
  • custard, for serving
  • For the stuffed dates:

  • 4 fresh dates, pitted
  • 50 g pistachio nuts, roughly chopped

Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a baking tray with butter. Slice each apple into four rounds. Place onto the baking tray. Mix the spices and rub onto the apples.

Brush with butter, top with flaked almonds and drizzle with honey. Bake for 10 minutes. Turn off the oven and allow the apples to dry for 10–15 minutes. Serve the apples with custard and the stuffed dates.

To make the stuffed dates, make an incision into the dates and stuff with the pistachios.
