Ingredients

Method
  • a handful of fresh, halved red grapes
  • 1 lime, quartered
  • 60 ml tequila or white rum
  • 20 ml simple syrup
  • sprigs of fresh mint, to taste
  • sparkling water, optional

Method

Ingredients

1. Place the grapes in a shaker and add lime, tequila or white rum, simple syrup and a couple of sprigs of fresh mint. Muddle well – you want the grapes to release their flavour and the skins to add pink colour to the juice.

2. Shake with ice until chilled, then strain into a tumbler filled with ice. Garnish with fresh mint and more halved grapes. Top with sparkling water if a taller, less sweet, drink is more to your liking.

Jeanne Calitz

Recipe by: Jeanne Calitz

Jeanne Calitz is a freelance lifestyle writer based in Kommetjie, Cape Town. She's a voracious reader and a fan of hyper-seasonal cooking and well-made cocktails (spicy palomas forever!) When not writing, you'll find her busy in the garden or walking the family's two Schnauzers, awestruck by the fact that she gets to live near the ocean.
