Responsibly sourced and delicious: 2 seafood recipes we can’t get enough
Opting for responsibly-sourced fish and seafood is a duty we all have. These green-listed fish and seafood don’t have to mean compromising on your favourite fish or flavour. We’re currently loving Mauritian spotted bass and Patagonian squid heads and tubes – perfect for grilling, frying and adding to our favourite stews and pastas.
Just when you thought you’d exhausted all sustainable seafood options, Woolworths introduces two new products! First up: Mauritian spotted bass, which is farmed in Mauritius in line with Woolworths’ Fishing for the Future commitments, and comes in two varieties: plain and masala-marinated. It’s a versatile fish with firm, white flesh that’s suitable for all preparations and can be grilled, braised, stewed or fried for maximum flavour. Next, Patagonian squid heads and tubes are also responsibly sourced, wild-caught in the Atlantic Ocean and processed locally. For super tender results, flash-fry for three minutes, flipping every 30 seconds. With the right choices there can still be plenty of fish in the sea.
Pan-fry the Mauritian spotted bass and serve in toasted roti with shredded lettuce, sliced red onion, grilled pineapple and atchar yoghurt. Season the squid with Woolworths’ peri-peri chilli seasoning and grill.
