Ingredients
Method- 1 x 385 g Condensed milk
- 50 g sea salt flakes
Method
IngredientsPierce two holes on opposite edges of the condensed milk can. Place in a saucepan, add enough water to come halfway up the can and cover with foil.
Place over low heat for 1½ to 2 hours or until the condensed milk is caramel in colour and the consistency has thickened. Leave to cool.
Spoon into jars and serve with sea salt flakes (or get creative and choose one of these salts to pair with caramel).
Will it not be a lot easier to just heat a tin of Caramel Treat? And add the sea flakes?
Please can you clarify:
Do you cover the can in foil, or the pot?
Must the two holes in the can be out of the water? I am worried that if the holes are under the water level, that the caramel will ooze out.
Hi Samantha, it is better to make the holes closer to the top of the can and fill the saucepan with water until it reaches halfway up the can. Oh, and cover the saucepan with foil. Let us know how yours came out?
