Amaretto Zabiglione is a simple Italian dessert made of egg yolks, sugar and Amaretto liqueur, which has a light almond flavour. This easy dessert is perfect those of us who have not mastered the art of baking (yet), but want to serve a delicious dessert on their festive table.
- For the zabaglione:
- 3 large free-range egg yolks
- 3 T caster sugar
- 1/4 cup Amaretto liqueur
- Woolworths mince pies, for serving
1. Whisk together the egg yolks and sugar in a large glass bowl until well combined.
2. Place over a saucepan of simmering water – don’t allow the bottom of the bowl to touch the water – and whisk until the mixture thickens and holds its shape in thick streaks or ribbons. Slowly add the Amaretto and whisk until thick.
Serve immediately with warm mince pies.
