Plum tarte tatin

“The last of the season’s plums make a delectably juicy, easy-to-make dessert. Serve with whipped cream or classic Madagascan vanilla bean ice cream – or both!”
Wine/Spirit Pairing
Diemersdal Pinotage
Ingredients
Method
- 120 g sugar
- 8 ripe plums, halved and stoned
- 2 T butter
- 400 g Woolworths frozen all-butter puff pastry, thawed
- cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving
Method
Ingredients
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Place the sugar in a 22 cm ovenproof pan over a low heat and cook until light golden in colour. Do not stir.
2. Place the plums in the pan, cut side up. Unroll the pastry, prick with a fork and drape over the plums, tucking in any overlapping pastry.
3. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed up. Cool for 10 minutes, then carefully invert onto a serving plate. Serve with cream or ice cream.
