4 desserts with sparkling wine to get you in the festive mood

By Melissa Scheepers, 23 November 2017

Pop the bubbly, it’s time to get an early taste of that *holiday feeling*. And we don’t just mean drinking it from flutes. Here are four desserts featuring sparkling wine.

A glass of sparkling wine is synonymous with celebrating a birthday, special occasion or simply after a long day at work. But rather than consuming it in the traditional sense, why not get creative with one of these four delicious ways to use it?

SPARKLING WINE JELLY WITH SUMMER FRUIT

Simply substitute the cold water in the jelly with sparkling wine, add all your favourite fresh fruit and allow to set. Do as we do and use a metal baking sheet for a slightly faster setting time.

SPARKLING ROSÉ CAKE WITH CHERRY MERINGUES

Why limit yourself to drinking cocktails when you can eat them, too? Crack open a bottle of bubbly and spare a glass for this beautiful cake!

CHAMPAGNE SORBET

This make-ahead boozy sorbet needs only three ingredients and some patience for its overnight chilling. Other than that, it's incredibly easy to make. If you haven’t popped the cork on your champers yet, we suggest you do.
