Golden, crispy Woolworths French fries are drenched in two silky cheese sauces – one made with creamy white Gouda and the other with mature yellow Gouda – for a striking marbled finish. Topped with crispy bacon, Parmesan and parsley, they’re made for sharing.

  • 200 g Woolworths streaky bacon, diced
  • For the white cheese sauce:

  • 1 T butter

  • 100 g Woolworths white Gouda, grated
  • For the yellow cheese sauce:

  • 1 T 1 T butter
  • 1 T cake flour
  • ¾ cup ¾ cup full-cream milk
  • 100 g Woolworths mature yellow Gouda, grated
  • For garnish:

  • 50 g Woolworths Parmigiano Reggiano, finely grated
  • 2 T parsley, finely chopped

Method

Ingredients

1. Cook the Woolworths French fries according to package instructions until golden and crisp.

2. Fry the bacon until crisp, then drain on kitchen paper.

3. To make the white cheese sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and slightly thickened. Stir in the white Gouda until melted and smooth. Season with black pepper.

4. Follow the same method to make the yellow cheese sauce.

5. Arrange the hot fries on a serving platter. Pour both cheese sauces over the fries at the same time, allowing them to swirl together to create a marbled effect.

6. Scatter over the crispy bacon, Parmesan and parsley. Season with black pepper and serve immediately.
