5 quick braai recipes you can make in the middle of the week

By Jess Spiro, 17 March 2021

Who said braaiing is only for weekends? Sometimes when that craving hits you’ve just got to give in. Although most braais can be an all-day affair, we’ve got a couple of recipes that prove you can light the fire after work and still have dinner on the table at a reasonable time. These are our current favourite ideas for a midweek braai.

Grilled lamb kebab pitas

The key to nailing a midweek, after-work braai is ensuring whatever you’re throwing on the coals can be cooked quickly and at a high heat (nobody’s got time to wait for the coals to die down on a Wednesday night). These pitas call for premade kebabs, which cuts down prep time and they cook in mere minutes.

Taiwanese soya-sesame pork and chicken liver skewers

Making your own skewers after work might seem a bit fussy, but you could throw these together while the fire is doing its thing. Omit the chicken livers if you don’t have any and use any barbeque sauce you’ve got on hand.
