5 soups you can make in just 30 minutes
Craving homemade soup but don’t have the time or enough power (we’re looking at you loadshedding) to make it? We’ve got you covered. Here are five soups that you can whip up in just 30 minutes.
1. Lemony green soup
With just 10 minutes prep time and 10 minutes cooking time, this soup is a lifesaver when you're pressed for time (for instance, when you're cooking against a loadshedding clock!). It's made with vegetable stock, broccoli, spinach and lemon juice (of course), and served with a swirl of plain yoghurt for some creamy goodness. We love it with sweet potato chips.

2. Coconut-and-ginger sweet potato soup
No blender required! While your sweet potatoes are roasting, make a creamy coconut milk broth and combine both when ready. Spoon over buttery beans for a more filling and flavourful meal.

3. Classic miso soup
Forget 30 minutes, this easy soup comes together in just 10 minutes and uses just 2 ingredients. You can add on to the basic soup in any way you want. Topping options include roast mushrooms, green beans, Tenderstem broccoli, jammy eggs, sesame seeds, sesame oil, nori sheets, chilli crisp or ramen noodles.

4. Green minestrone and frikkadels
If you're in the mood for a meatier option, this green minestrone-and-frikkadel soup could be it. According to contributing food editor Hannah Lewry, it's the ultimate quick-and-easy green minestrone. It's made with Woolies' pre-chopped green veg medley bag and readymade frikkadels so takes just 5 minutes to prep, and 25 to simmer.

5. Herby lemon-and-barley chicken soup
Is it even a soup round-up if chicken soup isn't included? This uses a readymade Woolies soup as a base, and is a great way to use up the leftovers from that Woolworths rotisserie chicken.
