Let’s be honest, avos are perfect anytime of the year, but winter is when they truly come into their own. And while they don’t need much done to them, sometimes a salad or avo toast just won’t cut it when it’s cold outside. So, here are some of our favourite ways to eat even more avos in winter.

Quinoa and avocado salad
Ok ok, so salads might not be the obvious choice for wintery food but hear us out on this one. The addition of quinoa and interesting greens and seeds make this hearty and filling and you could even serve this at room temperature, or warmed. Swap out the lettuce for spinach if you like, and serve alongside grilled chicken or fish to turn into a substantial meal.

Avocados and Mexican food are longtime BFFs, but here they do more than simply act as a garnish in the form of guacamole. If you’re not strictly vegan, feel free to add a little sour cream or even some sharp cheddar into the mix.

While we love the fact that South African avos are available almost all year-round, we’re particularly happy they’re in plentiful supply in winter due to the immune support they may offer in the colder months.
