SPONSORED: The cruise that offers a food hall, food trucks and sustainable cocktails

Embarking on a cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) promises South African travellers an all-inclusive and hassle-free adventure, exploring multiple destinations in just one trip. But for the food-lovers in particular, NCL’s newest vessel, Norwegian Prima, offers guests a new and exciting culinary journey too. Here are three ways to enjoy the food and drink offerings on board.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) Prima Class vessels, including Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva (launching later this year), offer superb specialty restaurants, trendy food halls, and sustainably focussed bars.

1. Dine freestyle

NCL offers a Freestyle Dining concept, which provides guests with the freedom to follow their moods, not a timetable, thanks to no fixed dining times or pre-assigned seating – usually a given on cruises. On NCL, you dine when and where you want.

And with nine new dining and beverage venues on board Norwegian Prima, there’s a huge variety of options. Seven specialty restaurants offer unique global dining experiences, from Mediterranean seafood at Palomar, to contemporary sushi at Nama and premium American steakhouse cuisine at Cagney’s Steakhouse.

2. Hit the food hall

For a laid-back yet diverse dining experience, Indulge Food Hall presents 11 trendy food trucks and casual food stations inspired by gourmet market halls worldwide – a delightful first for NCL.

3. Sip sustainably

Adding to the allure is the Metropolitan Bar, NCL’s first sustainably focussed bar. Part of the Sail and Sustain programme, it offers responsibly crafted, zero-waste cocktails and sustainable spirits, including 20 biodynamic wines produced using organic farming methods. Try the signature “Primadonna” cocktail, featuring surplus banana peels and Flor De Caña rum produced using 100% renewable energy.

Norwegian Viva, Norwegian Prima’s sister vessel, promises even more culinary and beverage “firsts” when she launches.
