When it comes to avos, which do you prefer? Are you a fan of the creamy, green-skinned, or the rich, nutty, dark-skinned avocados? No matter which type of avocado you enjoy, they’re all equally good! If you’re keen on eating seasonally, here’s a breakdown of what you need to know when it comes to avos.
Green-skinned avo varieties are available from March until October, while the dark-skinned varieties are in season from March until late summer. Remember that green-skinned avos remain green when ripe, while the dark-skinned avos turn purple-black when ready to eat. Even though avocados may vary in colour, shape and size, they remain delicious and nutritious.
When it comes to getting creative in the kitchen, dark-skinned and green-skinned avos shine equally brightly, as there’s no end to their uses in snacks, light meals, starters, main meals, desserts, bakes and even sweet treats.
