  • 4 Woolworths bockwurst sausages
  • 200 g tempura flour
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 onions, thickly sliced
  • canola oil, for frying
  • Maldon salt, to taste
  • gherkins, for serving
  • sauerkraut, for serving
  • 4 pretzel or hot dog rolls, sliced lengthways and toasted, for serving
  • tomato sauce, for serving

Cooking Instructions

Chargrill the bockwurst in a griddle pan over a very high heat until griddle marks form.

Make the tempura batter according to package instructions. Coat the onion rings in the tempura batter and shallow fry in the hot canola oil. Drain on kitchen paper and season with salt.

To serve, place the gherkins and sauerkraut in a roll and top with the bockwurst. Serve with the tempura onion rings and tomato sauce.
