  • For the waffles:
  • 190 g cake flour
  • 100 g caster sugar
  • 2 T cocoa powder
  • 3 t baking powder
  • ½ t salt
  • 4 T butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 free-range eggs
  • For the miso-chocolate syrup:
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 50 g cocoa powder
  • 1 t Woolworths miso paste

CHOCOLATE BELGIAN WAFFLES WITH MISO-CHOCOLATE SYRUP INGREDIENTS For the waffles: cake flour 190 g caster sugar 100 g cocoa powder 2 T baking powder 3 t salt ½ t butter 4 T, melted milk 1 cup free-range eggs 2 For the miso-chocolate syrup: water ¼ cup maple syrup ½ cup cocoa powder 50 g Woolworths miso paste 1 t 1 To make the waffles, sift all the dry ingredients into a large bowl. Gently heat the butter and milk in a small saucepan until the butter has melted. Remove from the heat, allow to cool slightly, then whisk in the eggs. 2 Create a well in the dry ingredients, add the wet ingredients and mix until smooth. Heat a waffle iron until very hot and grease with non-stick cooking spray or melted butter. Ladle in some of the waffle batter and cook for 3–4 minutes until cooked through. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve hot with the syrup. 3 To make the syrup, bring the water and maple syrup to a boil in a small saucepan.
